This Grants Resources page will house all of the key piece of information that will help you with applying for funding, sharing a funding idea with the Foundation, accessing our new Grants Portal, submitting a change to your funded project and submitting your progress and outcome reports.

Community Foundation Ireland runs a number of open grant rounds through the year. In these grant rounds, the criteria will be published and any organisation that meets the criteria can apply for funding. As each grant round opens, all the information will be published here.
Occasionally, you might be invited to apply for funding where one of our donors has indicated they would like to support your work. The Foundation will reach out to you to share the details and criteria for this funding which will help you in your application.
Community Foundation Ireland has just moved to a new Grants Portal where applicants and grantees will be able to log in, update information about their organisation apply for funding, and see past grants that have been funded.
Before applying for funding, all information in relation to an organisation must be up to date, including up to date governance and financial documents. Outdated or missing information will impact an organisation’s ability to receive funding from the Foundation.
We recommend that organisations log in, update their information and submit the necessary documentation well ahead of a grant round deadline.
All applications must be submitted through our new Grants Portal. We cannot accept applications for funding that are received via email or post. In order to submit an application to Community Foundation Ireland, you can log into the Grants Portal here.
You can log in with your email and password, or, if you are logging in for the first time, you can click ‘Forgot Password’. If you have never applied for funding from Community Foundation Ireland before, you won’t already be on our system. Please click ‘Register Here’.
Once you have logged into the Grants Portal, you can find information about your organisation, about previous grants, and future funding opportunities. The Portal will also show you any reports that are due in.
Once you have logged in, you will be prompted to complete the governance information about your organisation. Please submit this information and the necessary documentation as soon as possible, as outdated or missing information will impact your organisations’ ability to receive funding.
Take a look at our FAQs to find out more information about logging in and finding your applications. If your question is not answered in our FAQs, you can email portal@foundation.ie.
Community Foundation Ireland assesses all applications that are submitted against our Grants Matrix. This includes:
All organisations that apply for funding will also go through our Governance checks to ensure that the organisation is well governed and in a good position to take on a grant.
Once the Foundation, or one of our donors has approved funding to your organisation, we will share a Grant Agreement, which outlines the terms and conditions of the grant funding. Please read this agreement carefully, if the terms and conditions are not met, you may be required to return the funding to the Foundation.
Once the Grant Agreement is signed, we can transfer the funds directly to your organisations’ bank account and the project can start.
Once you have received funds from Community Foundation Ireland, you can start or continue your project. Please keep us updated on how the project is progressing, we often find that grantees experience delays in the first six-months of the work. Let us know if you are experiencing delays and we can award a project extension. If any changes need to be made to your project activity or the budget, please request a Project Change via the Grants Portal and we will authorise the change ahead of it being made.
All grantees will be required to provide formal reports on their funded project. These are usually every six months, but specific dates will be outlined on your Grant Agreement. This is a very important part of the Agreement, as these reports allow the Foundation to accurately reflect on the impact of our funding, and to report back to our own funders. Overdue or missing Progress or Outcome reports will impact your organisations’ ability to receive future funding. You can submit your Progress and Outcome reports via the Grants Portal.
